What Do CE and BCE Mean?

CE means Common Era, which is equivalent to AD (Anno Domini). BCE means Before Common Era, which is equivalent to BC (Before Christ). These signs are used in historical and academic contexts to represent years in a religiously neutral way.

For example, the year 35 CE is the same as AD 35, and 300 BCE is the same as 300 BC. Both CE and BCE follow the same timeline structure - only the labeling is different. Read more on Wikipedia about CE/BCE.
